"Checklist" for Change

These are a few representative ideas, rather than a robust solution set. But treat it like a checklist where you start at the top. The most important items happen first.

Do one, two or all. The more we chip away at, and the more people who work at building foundations, the closer we are to real change, the kind that matters.

We love to hear your stories as part of our Free to Fly community! If action on any of these points made a difference for you, please send us an email ('contact us' at the bottom of this page) and let us know! With your permission, we may share your experience in a future newsletter.

◻︎ HEART

  • Pray, for God's forgiveness, wisdom and for courage.

  • Read and think about Truth. Examples:

    • Ecclesiastes 12:13 "The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."

    • Luke 9:23-25 " And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?"

    • Hebrews 12:1-3"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

  • When the pressures of life mount, it's easy to get discouraged and lose our focus. Several of our pilots shared this recent Charles Spurgeon article, and it was a great encouragement. Please take 2 minutes to read it here.

◻︎ HOME

  • Pray for your family.

  • Get your kids out of state (public) schools.

  • Take a social media fast and spend that time thinking and following through with actions that strengthen your faith and family.

  • Call your Mom and/or Dad, your siblings or kids and tell them what you appreciate about them.

  • Set aside an evening for family time, however that looks for you; dinner out, a picnic, a hike together, games, sports.

  • Leave a note in your spouse's or kids' lunch/briefcase/suitcase the next time they leave for the day or a trip. Leave a note for your family if you're the one heading off to work or away on a trip.

  • Call or text a friend you haven't connected with in a long time and let them know you're thinking about them. Ask how they're doing.

◻︎ COMMUNITY

  • Pray for your community.

  • Find and attend a faithful, local church.

  • Send a local mayor, councillor, pastor, principal or other public official a note to introduce yourself or provide encouragement.

  • Find one neighbour you don't know and stop by to introduce yourself and say hello. This doesn't need to be weird, just be honest and explain how community is important and that you regret not meeting more people and want to change that. Bonus points if you bring along a jar of jam or some other gift.

  • Organize a neighbourhood BBQ or potluck.

◻︎ NATION

  • Pray for your nation.

  • Bill C-293 is of grave concern, threatening foundational liberties much like COVID lockdowns did, but on a potentially whole new scale. The timeline for action is short.

  • Please follow this link to James Roguski's excellent outline. There is a lot of information here, as well as tools for action.
